At the moment Hilversum receives all refugees from Ukraine to the Refugee Center at Heuvellaan 50. It is a temporary solution. 

It is rather difficult to find a suitable permanent solution for Ukrainians in Hilversum, as housing here is rather expensive and scarce resource. We believe that the best solution at the moment is to distribute Ukrainians to hosting families in Hilversum and around. In such a case these people will get not only a permanent solution to their problem, but also will be submerged into the Dutch culture and communities. It IS important: most families have children. They will learn and accept a new culture and bring it back to Ukraine after the war. It will make after-war Ukraine closer to the Europe, and this is what both Europe and Ukrainians want. 

We do invite you to share your houses with Ukrainians. Most of them are very nice people, who are ready to learn and work. E.g. in my case (I am Alex Tourski, one of volunteers) I have 5 people living at my house, and it is fun. They are helpful, polite and quite. 

We do understand that you have concerns, and we addressed most of them. Together with the lawyers from the Gemeente we have drafted a sample (and simple) contract which stipulates "the rules of the game" and protects you, as a house owner, in particular:

1. You have a right to pull the plug at any moment, and our Refugee Center will accept your guests back. We all understand that something may go wrong. 

2. Refugees (and you) are covered by insurance, for the cases when (if) they damage anything

3. You will get financial support from Gemeente (about €250 per person per month). It will probably not cover all your costs, but it is certainly a help.

We have a special group of volunteers at the Centre which matches hosting families and particular Ukrainian families. We help both of you to find a perfect partner, and we will help if something goes wrong. We do understand that we need a safe and comfortable environment for both parties to have a scalable solution to this crisis. Together we can convert the crisis into a powerful vehicle to transfer Dutch culture to Ukraine.
